Rotterdam is a vibrant city dotted with premier cultural attractions and build around Europe’s busiest port. You can best get a feel for the city by walking down to the Museumpark. Here, the enormous Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum has a superb collection of works by Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Gaugin, and Cezanne. Nearby is the Natturmuseum Kunsthal with first class exhibitions of contemporary art and photography. Also in the park is the Netherlands Architecture Institute, with exhibitions focusing on particular architects or areas. The Maritime Museum is another entertaining option to explore. The most picturesque part of the city is considered to be Delfshaven, with two narrow canals surrounded by 18th and 19th century buildings. Here there is another museum focusing on local history, Museum de Dubbelde Palmboom.
