San Antoni de Portmany is a town on Ibiza’s western coast and was once a fishing village but has today made its name as the clubbing capital of the world. The best known landmark in San Antoni is The Egg located in the town center, which was built in the early 1990s to commemorate the town’s claim that Christopher Columbus was born there. In the middle of the Egg is a model of Columbus’ ship the Santa Maria. The town’s biggest festival is the Feast of St Bartholomew held every August which is celebrated with massive fireworks shows in the center of town. The famous nightlife of San Antoni is concentrated in the West End, and there are hundreds of clubs and discos to choose from.
